Privacy notice. What we keep and why.

Who we are

County Energy installs solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, EV chargers and insulation. Our main office is at Merlin House, Langstone Business Park, Newport NP18 2HT, and our second office is at 1 Alvin Street, Gloucester GL1 3EJ. We decide how your details are used, which makes us the controller of your personal data under UK data protection law.

What we collect

We only ask for what we need to help you:

• Your name, phone number, email address and postcode when you fill in a form or call us.
• What you are interested in and anything you choose to tell us about your home.
• Details we record at a survey: the property, its roof, heating and electrics, your energy bills if you share them, and photos of the areas we will work on.
• For customers: your address, what we fitted, the certificates and registrations for it, and payment records.

How we use it

• To call you back, arrange a survey and send you a design and quote. We do this because you asked us to.
• To fit, commission and register your system and look after it afterwards. We need this to carry out our contract with you.
• To apply for grants on your behalf, such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, and to issue the certificates that come with your installation. These are legal and scheme requirements.
• To keep the business and tax records the law requires.

We do not sell your details, add you to mailing lists or pass them to anyone for their own marketing.

Who we share it with

Only the people who need it to complete your job:

• Ofgem, when we apply for a Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for you.
• MCS and our certification body, NAPIT, to register your installation and issue certificates.
• Your electricity network operator, which must be told about solar panels, batteries, heat pumps and car chargers.
• Manufacturers, to register warranties.
• A finance or loan provider, only if you ask us to arrange it.
• Our accountants and IT providers, who handle data for us under contract.

How long we keep it

If you ask for a quote and do not go ahead, we delete your details after a reasonable time unless you ask us to keep them. For customers we keep installation, certificate and warranty records for as long as the equipment is covered, and financial records for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the personal details we hold about you, ask us to correct them, or ask us to delete them where we no longer need them. You can also object to how we use them. Call or write to us and we will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to put it right first.

This website

When you send a form, the details go to us by email and are kept in a log on our web server that only we can read. The site does not use cookies or tracking for advertising. Our cookie notice has the details.
