Loft, roof and wall insulation. Keep your heat in.

Lofts, rooms in the roof and walls, inside or out, from the team behind County Insulation.

What we insulate from the roof down.

We look at the whole house at the survey and start where the most heat is getting out.

  • Lofts. We top up thin or old loft insulation to today's recommended depth, and board walkways where you need to store things.
  • Rooms in the roof. Insulation boards fitted between and over the rafters, the dormer cheeks and the flat ceilings, so a loft room stops being the coldest in winter and the hottest in summer.
  • Internal wall insulation. Insulated boards on the inside of solid walls, room by room, where the outside of the house has to stay as it is.
  • External wall insulation. An insulated layer fixed to the outside walls and finished in render, with no loss of space inside.

See where your heat is getting out.

Drag the line across the house. A thermal camera shows warmth as bright colour, and on a house like this the roof and walls light up. Those are the two places we insulate.

  • Through the roof

    About a quarter

Loft and room in roof insulation keep it in.

  • Through the walls

    Around a third

Internal or external wall insulation keeps it in.

Insulation for less if you qualify.

In Wales, Nest gives free home improvements, insulation included, to lower-income households: if you might qualify, we will point you to it first. Green Homes Wales offers interest-free loans that cover insulation. In England, councils give the Warm Homes: Local Grant to eligible households and arrange the work themselves. We will tell you which applies at the survey.

How an insulation job is done

A survey first, so we fix where the heat is really going.

  1. Free survey

We look in the loft, at the walls and the roof, and check for damp and airflow before we suggest anything.

  2. Quote

A written quote for each part of the house, in the order that saves you the most first.

  3. Fitting

We protect your floors and belongings, fit the insulation and keep the vents and airflow the house needs.

  4. Tidy and sign off

We clear up, show you what was done, and give you the paperwork for your records.

Insulation questions we hear at every survey

Usually the loft, because a quarter of the heat lost from an uninsulated home goes through the roof (an Energy Saving Trust estimate) and lofts are often the quickest job. Walls come next. We look at the whole house at the survey and tell you what will make the biggest difference.

It is not always needed, but it usually pays. A house that keeps its heat needs a smaller heat pump, which costs less to buy and to run, and the rooms stay warmer.

For some households. In Wales, Nest gives free improvements to lower-income households, and in England councils run the Warm Homes: Local Grant. The Great British Insulation Scheme closed on 31 March 2026. If you might qualify for free help, we will point you to it first.

Yes. The walls get a new rendered finish, so the outside of the house changes. We show you the finishes at the survey, and internal wall insulation is there for houses where the outside has to stay the same.

County Energy grew out of County Insulation, a Gloucester insulation firm, and the insulation work comes from that same team.
