Grants and loans for your home, in plain English.

Grants, interest-free loans and tax breaks can take a big share off a heat pump, solar panels, a battery or insulation. Answer four quick questions to see which may apply to your home. We check every one at the survey.

England and Wales

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

£7,500

What you get
£7,500 off an air source or ground source heat pump. If your home runs on oil or LPG and has no mains gas, the grant is £9,000 from 21 July 2026 until 31 March 2027.
Who can get it
You own the home, and that includes a second home or a house you rent out. The heat pump has to replace gas, oil, LPG or electric heating. It cannot replace a heat pump you already have, and most new builds and social housing are not covered. One grant per property.
How it works
Only an MCS certified installer can apply. We apply to Ofgem for you and take the grant off your price. Since 28 April 2026 you no longer need an EPC to apply. If you have one, we give its number.
How long
The government has extended the scheme to 2030.
England and Wales

Air to air heat pump grant

£2,500

What you get
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme now includes a £2,500 grant for air to air heat pumps, added to the rules from 28 April 2026.
When you can claim it
Once MCS certification for air to air opens, which is expected soon. The grant needs an MCS certified installer and product, and that certification is not live yet.
Who can get it
The same rules as the main grant: you own the home, and the air to air system replaces your main heating rather than only adding cooling. Air to air heats the air in your rooms, not your hot water.
Wales

Warm Homes Nest

Free

What you get
A package of free home energy improvements, such as a heat pump, insulation or solar panels. Any household in Wales can also get free energy advice from Nest.
Who can get it
You own your home or rent it privately, and someone in the home gets a means-tested benefit or your household income is low after housing costs. The home is rated E or below on its EPC, or D or below if someone has an eligible health condition.
How it works
Nest is run for the Welsh Government with its own advisers and installers, so you apply to Nest rather than to us. Call free on 0808 808 2244, Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm.
Wales

Green Homes Wales

0% interest

What you get
An interest-free loan of £1,000 to £25,000 for heat pumps, solar panels, batteries, insulation, glazing and smart heating controls.
Paying it back
Over up to 10 years, or longer for bigger projects, with six months before the first repayment.
Who can get it
Homeowners in Wales. The Development Bank of Wales runs credit and affordability checks, and you get free energy advice from Nest first. You can use the loan alongside the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
How it works
You register with the Development Bank of Wales. Applications are open, and funding comes in rounds, so we check it is still available when we quote.
England

Warm Homes: Local Grant

Free

What you get
Insulation, an air source heat pump, solar panels or smart heating controls, at no cost to you.
Who can get it
Privately owned homes in England, lived in by the owner or rented from a private landlord, rated D to G on their EPC. Household income is usually £36,000 or less, and some postcodes and benefits qualify too.
How it works
Councils run it. You apply on GOV.UK or by calling 0800 098 7950, and the council arranges the survey and chooses the installers.

Warm Homes Loan Scheme

Being rolled out

What it is
New government-backed low and zero interest loans for solar, batteries and heat pumps are being rolled out through approved lenders. We can tell you when they are available.
Who can get it
Homeowners and private landlords anywhere in the UK. There is no income test, and the lender checks you can afford the repayments.
What it covers
Solar panels, batteries and heat pumps from an MCS certified installer. An EV charger counts only as part of a solar or battery job, and insulation is not covered.

ECO4 ends on 31 December 2026, and the Great British Insulation Scheme closed on 31 March 2026.

More ways to save, whatever your income.

These are not means-tested. The VAT saving is already on our quotes, and we set up the rest with you.

Zero rate

0% VAT

What it covers. Solar panels, batteries (including a battery on its own or one added to panels you already have), air source heat pumps and insulation, supplied and fitted in your home.

How long. Until 31 March 2027, after which the rate is due to go back to 5%. EV chargers are not covered.

Paid to export

Smart Export Guarantee

What you get. A payment for every unit of electricity your panels send to the grid. Each supplier sets its own rate, and it must always be above zero.

What you need. A smart meter that records export, and an MCS certificate for the system. We give you the certificate and help you choose an export tariff.

Up to £500

EV chargepoint grant

What you get. Up to £500 towards a home charge point if you rent your home (with your landlord's permission) or own a flat, and have private off-street parking.

Park on the street?. Up to £500 towards a cross-pavement channel, so the cable runs safely from the house to the car.

Good to know. Homeowners of houses with a driveway cannot get it. It runs until 31 March 2027, and the charger has to be fitted by an installer authorised by OZEV, the government office that runs the grant.

Nobody can promise that before the survey. Each scheme has its own rules, and some look at your income, your EPC or your credit. We go through them with you at the survey and tell you which ones fit, before you sign anything.

No. We apply to Ofgem for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and the grant comes off your price up front, so you only pay the rest.

Often, yes. In Wales, a Green Homes Wales loan can be used alongside the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. We show what that looks like on your quote.

Some. Renters with private off-street parking can get up to £500 towards an EV charger. Nest in Wales and the Warm Homes: Local Grant in England both cover privately rented homes. Your landlord can use the Boiler Upgrade Scheme on a home they rent out.

Not yet. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme now includes a £2,500 grant for air to air heat pumps, and it can be claimed once MCS certification for air to air opens, which is expected soon. Ask us where it stands for your home.
