A home battery that keeps your power for the evening.

A battery stores the spare power from your panels, so you use it at teatime instead of buying it back. No panels? It can fill up on a cheap overnight tariff instead. We size it from your bills and fit it with new or existing solar.

  • 0%VAT on home batteries until 31 March 2027

A battery sized for the way your house uses power.

We look at a year of your bills, when you use the most and what your panels make, then pick the battery and inverter to suit. Our own electricians fit it.

  • Sized from your bills. Too small and it runs flat before bedtime. Too big and you pay for space you never fill. We work it out from how your household uses power, not from a standard package.
  • Works with the panels you have. We add batteries to new systems and to existing ones, including panels another company fitted. The old County Energy site listed FOX ESS and GivEnergy battery systems.
  • Set to fill on cheap night rates. Pair it with a time-of-use tariff and it tops up overnight when power costs less, then runs the house through the morning and evening.
  • Paperwork and app sorted. We tell the network operator, register the system, hand over the certificates and show you the app, so you can watch the battery fill and empty.

A 24-hour dial showing where a home's power comes from through a day and a night Morning: the battery runs the house. Daytime: the solar panels run the house and fill the battery. Evening: the battery runs the house. Overnight: cheap-rate grid power fills the battery. 06 09 15 18 21

24 hours with a home battery.

Scroll to turn the dial through a day and a night, and see where your power comes from at each hour.

  1. Morning: breakfast runs on the battery

The battery covers the kettle and the toaster with power it stored overnight, while the panels wake up.

  2. Daytime: the panels run the house

Whatever the house does not use goes into the battery, instead of out to the grid.

  3. Evening: the battery takes over

As the sun drops, cooking, lights and the TV run on the power you stored at midday.

  4. Overnight: cheap power tops it up

On a time-of-use tariff the battery fills from the grid while power costs less, ready for the morning.

Help with the cost of a home battery.

Since February 2024 the 0% VAT rate covers batteries too, whether one goes in with new panels, joins an existing system or stands on its own. In Wales, Green Homes Wales offers homeowners interest-free loans of £1,000 to £25,000, and batteries qualify. We tell you what applies at the survey.

How a battery install is done

One team from the first visit to the app on your phone.

  1. Free survey

We look at your bills, the meter and fuse board, any panels you have and the best spot for the battery.

  2. Design and quote

You get the battery size, where it goes and a written quote. No pressure to decide on the day.

  3. Fitting

Our electricians mount the battery and inverter, wire them in and test everything.

  4. Switch-on

We set the charge times to suit your tariff, show you the app and tell the network operator.

Battery questions we get asked

No. A battery can fill up from the grid on a cheap overnight tariff and run the house through the dearer hours. With panels it can also store the spare power you make in the middle of the day.

Yes, including systems we did not fit. We check your inverter at the survey: some systems take a battery straight on, others need a separate battery inverter.

It depends on how much power you use in the evening and overnight, and how much spare your panels make. We work it out from your bills at the survey. Many systems can be extended later by adding more battery modules.

Only if it is set up for it. Many batteries can run a backup circuit in a power cut, but that needs extra wiring and not every system has it. Tell us at the survey if it matters to you.

No, until 31 March 2027. The 0% rate applies when we supply and fit the battery in your home, whether it goes in with new panels, joins an existing system or stands on its own.
